Middle School Curriculum
At TCPS individualization and appropriate attention from our dedicated teaching staff is key to student success and maximizing academic outcomes. Our small class sizes provide each student with the attention necessary for sustained growth and development. Students learn to feel safe to take academic risks in an atmosphere that nurtures their self-esteem and teaches responsibility for their own actions. With appropriate challenge, students experience “friction”, teaching them how resilience fuels learning.

Electives
Students in grades 6, 7 and 8 have the choice of several elective classes, taught by middle school teachers, that will teach research and presentation skills in a fun and engaging way. Examples of middle school electives include newspaper, cooking, music, math, and sports-themed classes.
Spanish
Our middle school Spanish program engages students in language and culture and satisfies the first year of High School Spanish. Often students place into intermediate Spanish class in 9th grade.
Research Skills
Students learn research skills throughout their middle school core and enrichment classes. They begin high school knowing a variety of research methods and presentation skills.

Where do our graduates go next? High School!
Our students are prepared for success in high school and beyond. Every year, our graduates move on to the most competitive private high schools in San Diego. Those students that choose a public high school, often enter into the honors, AP, and IB track.
