On Saturday, November 18, 2017, TCPS had the privilege of attending the STEM In Your Backyard event at Madison High School. STEM In Your Backyard provides access to free, meaningful STEM experiences for the whole family by bringing the spark of science directly to communities throughout San Diego.

Each STEM In Your Backyard is organized like a street fair: local companies, non-profits and community organizations set up exhibit booths with fun, hands-on STEM activities for all ages. STEM In Your Backyard increases the opportunities for students to interact with STEM professionals, providing students with positive and diverse STEM role models and changing the image of STEM. This STEM exposure encourages students to stay involved in STEM and to consider careers in science, technology, engineering or math.

Our very own Mr. Martin (our Middle School Math and Robotics teacher) and Mrs. Szalay (our Kindergarten teacher extraordinaire), were in attendance to display some of the many ways that TCPS implements the STEM methods in our teaching. They had a great time chatting with local parents, students, and spreading the word about STEM, TCPS, robotics, and how the STEM approach can benefit any student.
