The Keys

We at TCPS have identified core components, called "the keys," which we integrate into students' educational and learning experiences. We have chosen these key words and phrases to help identify principal elements of the philosophy behind curriculum. These help us remember the basic ideas.

We teach these keys in such a way that the students truly internalize them. We do so by (1) involving the students; and (2) teaching by example.

Our objectives with the keys are to promote:

1. Integrity
2. Emotional Awareness
3. Balance (healthy mind, body, and emotions)
4. Steps to solutions/problem solving/decision-making
5. Focus/Calming the mind
6. Open, clear, effective communication
7. Being a member in a community (participating in cross-age groups)
8. Responsibility/Accountability
9. Appreciation of Self (and uniqueness of self)

Grades K-3

Grades 4-8

1. Integrity
