TCPS has received its complete classroom set of iPads! Teachers and students in the lower grades are very excited to have iPads in the classrooms. Our Kindergarten and First grade teachers, Ms. Szalay and Ms. Barnes, have already begun integrating the iPads into their curriculum. Students have been able to use the iPads for research and reading by accessing the TCPS World Book Online account. This gives students a fun way to familiarize themselves with a great research tool! In addition, students have now been able to use apps on the iPad for differentiated math practice as well as fraction practice.
The new addition of iPads is also another great new tool for students to learn keyboarding. Students in First grade have been using AlphaSmart keyboards to learn and practice their keyboarding skills. With the addition of iPads to the classrooms, students are now able to utilize both keyboarding apps and AlphaSmart keyboards to enhance their keyboarding skills. In addition, the iPads allow students to work on their hand-eye coordination and bolster the development of their fine motor skills. Having iPads in the classrooms is a great creative tool that offers an extensive amount of learning through engaging and interactive materials.
