4th and 5th performing "Ya Yo No" The 1st graders prepare to use their capes as they sing about a Spanish Bullfight

Dear Parents,

The combination of tears from laughing so hard and bubbling over with joy were the sentiments towards your little ones as they performed their Spanish pieces during Open House. Our first graders were so precious with their song about the Spanish Bullfighters. Second & Third grade had us all rolling with their “Headaches” and enthusiastic dancing. Finally, Fourth & Fifth gave sweet presentation as they sang “Ya Yo No”, a song about cooperation and conjugation. I was amazed at the hard work and determination brought forth by your kiddos and I was so pleased with their performances. I hope you enjoyed their performances as well!

¡Prática!

22 de julio de 2009

Buenos días,

I hope everyone is having a great summer! Speaking another language has many benefits for children and adults alike. Practicing with your children at home will help them retain the information they have learned over the school year, learn new vocabulary, and keep them interested in Español!

Browse through the website listed below with your children to explore new words, verbs conjugations, sing songs, play games, and find new ways to incorporate Spanish into your daily lives. You may even learn a thing or two yourself!

¡Hasta luego!

Los Estudiantes en la Cocina

30 de junio de 2009

¡HOLA AMIGOS!

Every few weeks, the Middle School Spanish classes research a new Spanish-speaking country.  We focus on current events, history, government, geography, famous authors from that country, and one of the most important aspects of the Spanish culture… LA COMIDA!  Let’s try that in English… THE FOOD!

It is wonderful that TCPS has a kitchen for us to use.  One of our favorite class activities is cooking a traditional meal from the country we are studying, then of course, eating it.  We recently studied Guatemala and made the famous, Guatemalan tacos.  Every year, I print out the recipes we’ve used and have the students create their own Spanish cookbook.  I hope you have all had the chance to try some of the delicious recipes at home, if not, start cooking!
