Cross Curriculum Studies

Using a recipe from a cookbook from Spain, the 6th grade class converted the measurements from the Metric System to our Customary System, then doubled it 2 and a half times. The 7th and 8th grade Spanish classes translated the intrusions. Later we baked and enjoyed beautiful Spanish Blueberry Tortas !

Learning Spanish through Song

The kindergarten and first grade students have so much fun singing songs with Señorita Sanchez.  Through songs, they have learned numbers, letters, words, and aspects of Spanish culture.

Below are some of their favorite songs.  Great job guys!

Arroz con Leche

Middle school Spanish students made a common Spanish dish, Arroz con Leche.  It is similar to what we know as Rice Pudding.  Students made the deliscious sweet dessert, and shared it with students and faculty.

Yummy!

Café España

cafe 032

Hola amigos,

Cafė España was an idea that the 8th grade students came up with. We were discussing our annual tradition of making Biscochitos during the holiday season. We had an earlier assignment where they did a role play in a cafe scene. That role play combined with our Biscochito project is were the inspiration for the cafe came from. They wanted to be the waiters & invited the younger students to come to their cafe to indulge in their delicious cookies with the requirement that they do all the ordering in Spanish. Some of students even dressed up & had new “Spanish names”.  The cafe was a hit and everyone had a great time!

Casa Abierta

4th and 5th performing "Ya Yo No" The 1st graders prepare to use their capes as they sing about a Spanish Bullfight

Dear Parents,

The combination of tears from laughing so hard and bubbling over with joy were the sentiments towards your little ones as they performed their Spanish pieces during Open House. Our first graders were so precious with their song about the Spanish Bullfighters. Second & Third grade had us all rolling with their “Headaches” and enthusiastic dancing. Finally, Fourth & Fifth gave sweet presentation as they sang “Ya Yo No”, a song about cooperation and conjugation. I was amazed at the hard work and determination brought forth by your kiddos and I was so pleased with their performances. I hope you enjoyed their performances as well!
