This week the 2nd & 3rd grade enjoyed a Señor Flat Stanley experience. We are sending a care package to another 2nd grade class in Kaysville Utah. Along with Flat Stanley and our picture-postcard in Spanish, the package will be filled with traditional Mexican-American treats from San Diego.
This semester we have made so many discoveries, from the little ones learning their animal vocabulary, to the middle school students tasting their Spanish masterpiece, to the unveiling of incredible goddesses!
We had a grand time preparing, serving and eating our Spanish holiday Bizcochitos in December! Maybe next winter you too can make reservations at our Café Espaňa.
Earlier this month our 7th grade Spanish class delighted in a Dr. Seuss & Eric Carle Reading Day. The students took turns reading to each other, while the listeners translated what they heard. This was an excellent comprehension, pronunciation and translation class. It was also proclaimed as one of our favorite classes thus far!
This past month we had a Special Game Day with our 7th & 8h grade Spanish classes. The students brought their Spanish dictionaries, verb books & competitive spirits to the table to challenge their classmates to a round of Spanish-only Scrabble & Bingo!
Our 2nd & 3rd grade Spanish class wanted to serenade you with their new song about the “Vaca salada.”. Ask your child to sing you the Spanish song about “The Cool Cow.” Then ask him/her why this cow is so cool!
This is a favorite for everyone & a great way to keep cool in the park.
TCPS Spanish Alumni came to support my foreign exchange students from Spain this Summer. It was a win-win situation, we had a blast sharing American traditions while they helped us improve our Spanish!
As our 5th annual holiday tradition, the middle school students love to make Bizcochitos, a Spanish Christmas cookie. After baking, they have the opportunity to serve and order in Spanish in our Café España.
Using a recipe from a cookbook from Spain, the 6th grade class converted the measurements from the Metric System to our Customary System, then doubled it 2 and a half times. The 7th and 8th grade Spanish classes translated the intrusions. Later we baked and enjoyed beautiful Spanish Blueberry Tortas !
