TCPS PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Over the past couple of weeks the students have been learning and refining their skills of street hockey. They have been learning how to pass the ball, receive it, and also score it in the goal. The students have been doing a great job with playing by all of the rules and paying extra attention to being safe with the hockey sticks. One of my favorite moments with hockey is seeing a group of boys and girls organizing a game of hockey all on their own outside of PE.
Aloha. My name is Marvin Santiago. I am the physical education teacher here at The Child’s Primary School. I graduated and received my B.S. in Physical Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colorado. I believe that it is important to live a healthy and active lifestyle. Ways to achieve this are to eat a well balanced diet and engage in activites that exercise your mind and body.
As a teacher I want to help children learn and enjoy the concepts and practices of physical activity through education. Exposure is very important for children to discover what appeals to them most. In my classroom there will be a lot of variations to the games and activities we participate in. The students in my classroom will understand how important physical activity is, display good sportmanship and respect themselves as well as others
OBJECTIVES FOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION
- To educate the whole child
- To develop lifelong learners
- For students to develop a lifelong habit of physical activity
What does PE look like at TCPS?
- Every student engaged in activity
- Equal opportunity for each student
- A positive learning environment
- Learning and teaching a variety of skills
- Students helping each other (peer teaching)
- Great student to teacher ratio

A teacher’s purpose is not to create students in his own image, but to develop students who can create their own image.

The Winter Olympics are well underway. I am really enjoy watching all of the events that are televised on TV. I am constantly checking the Olympics website www.vancouver2010.com to look at pictures and watch videos of untelevised events. Leave a comment and let us all know what is your favorite event or events. My favorites so far was the figure skating, speed skating and women’s downhill moguls. I am looking forward to watching the downhill skiing and the snowboard half-pipe with Shaun White and .
The recent rain kept everyone from getting outside and running around. It didn’t stop the TCPS students from getting their workout.
