Early in May, we talked about poetry and learned this particular poetry format. Our first group creation was on ice cream.

Make you hungry? Later each student carefully crafted a Mother’s Day poem. Their rough draft, corrected copy, and then the final were all wonderfully original. Some of their words reminded me of things my mother did during my childhood- how vividly I remember when my mother dressed up to go out… how well I remember her sitting on the side of my bed before I went to sleep… I know all of the First Grade moms must have enjoyed a special Mother’s Day!
